General Standards Section 26

Section 26. Compliance with State and Federal Laws

Responsibility for obligations other than those concerned with certification arising from the sale or shipment of seed, which has been certified by CCIA, rests with the applicant or subsequent handler making the sale or shipment. The California Seed Law and the Federal Seed Act require labeling information in addition to the certification tag. The CCIA's certification tags attest to varietal identity and genetic purity.  The tag also indicates that a sample of the seed has been examined by or for the CCIA and has met certain seed quality standards. The certification tag does not bear laboratory analysis information which may be required to also be on the container.
